Recognize an opioid overdose and respond with confidence
Knowing how to respond during an opioid overdose can help save a life. Narcan® (naloxone) is a medication that can temporarily reverse the effects of an opioid overdose, giving emergency responders more time to provide care.
This training teaches participants how to recognize the signs of an overdose, administer Narcan®, and respond calmly and confidently when someone needs support.
Narcan® trainings are available for individuals and groups throughout the 16 counties served by the Region 5 Systems catchment area.
Training Overview
This training offers helpful information and resources to better understand opioid use, prevention, and how communities can support one another. Participants will explore:
- Understanding opioids and their impact on individuals and communities
- Why carrying Narcan® can help people be prepared to support others
- How naloxone (Narcan®) works
- Where to find Narcan® at no cost
- Additional resources and support available in the community
One trainer is available to provide this training in Spanish. Our trainers distribute Deterra® pouches or medication lockboxes during training sessions and can also order Deterra® for groups or organizations to distribute.
